This program is for any swimmer who would like to gain experience with a mermaid monofin while learning mermaid swimming safety and having fun. This is open to swimmers age 7+ who have completed Red Cross Swim Level 5, or are able to swim unassisted 50m in the pool and are comfortable in deep water. Swimmers will preform a mermaid routine for the Winter and Spring Water Shows to show off what they have learned. A Mermaid Swim Test must be passed in order to join the program; this will typically be held on the first day of class. Please submit registration prior to the first class session so that your swimmer is registered for the Swim Test.
NOTE: A minimum of 3 participants are necessary to run the program.
(runs twice a year):
Beginner/Intermediate Fall Session: Saturdays 11:00-12:15 pm beginning September 15
Intermediate/Advanced Winter Sessions: Saturdays 11:00-12:15 pm beginning January 12
COST: $245/Session ($145/Session if the swimmer is also registered in another synchro program.)
Synchronized swimming is a team sport and the GP Synquatics Club has required team clothing. Dressing uniformly instills a sense of unity and pride amongst the swimmers at both the recreational and competitive levels. When swimmers participate in club activities inside and outside of the pool, they represent the Grande Prairie Synquatics Club in all they do. We want the public to be able to identify the girls in their activities to help promote and applaud them.
All club clothing will be available online through a local company, Chickadee Cresting (Please visit the Club Store link in the main menu).
A variety of clothing with our logo will be available for you to purchase right from the team store. A T-shirt will be required for all swimmers and is included in the cost of registration this year!
