There are three (3) recreational synchro programs that we offer:
The Intro program runs twice a year (Fall and Winter sessions) and is a good way for young swimmers or swimmers new to the sport of Synchronized Swimming (Artistic Swimming) to try to try it out, learn some basic synchro skills and create fun routines for the Watershows. No previous sycnhro or competitive wimming experience required.
The Pre-Competitive program is typically a stepping block towards the Competitive program. The swimmers do not compete in meets, but are expected to master more challenging skills and gain proficiency in routines and routine elements. Swimmers will typically swim a team routine as well as a duet and or a solo routine to highlight their specific strengths and talents. It is not required to have swam in the Intro program prior, but the swimmer's ability will be assessed to determine if this program is the best fit if entering it with no previous synchro experience. Basic skills will be reviewed and used to build upon for new and more challenging kills and figures. Swimmers do not have to move up to the Competitive program if they prefer to swim at a recreational level; they will be expected to reach a higher level of skill and mastery of the sport as they continue in each year however. Pre-Comp swimmers will display their hard work in their routines during the Watershows primarily.
The Masters program is designed for previous synchro swimmers who have aged out of the main stream of the Synchro Alberta program (18+) and also for those who are 18+ who have NO previous synchro experience. Basic swimming ability is suggested, but no formal swimming courses or programs are required to join. This is a fun program, with no competitions (for this club currently) where any adult can learn something new, express their artistic side, and meet some new friends! The Masters typically create a team routine to show off at the Watershows, and occasionally create duets and or solos.
